    Important Louis XV style mahogany commode with gilt bronze mounts and black marble top
    An exceptional Louis XV style mahogany commode, richly adorned with finely chased and mercury-gilded bronze mounts, topped with an imposing veined black marble slab.

    The front features two drawers in the frieze above two doors concealing a large storage space. The doors are decorated with a spectacular gilt bronze tondo centered with an antique mask, surrounded by coats of arms, standards, quivers, oak wreaths, and foliage—emblems characteristic of the royal style.
    The fluted, detached columns are adorned with gilt bronze rings and capitals and rest on elegant bronze lion's paw feet.

    The commode is topped with a thick black marble slab with beautiful white veining, highlighted by a gallery of finely chased bronze mounts. With its size, the quality of its mahogany, and especially the richness of its bronze decoration, this commode is a prestigious piece, perfectly representative of 18th-century French cabinetmaking.
