A Louis XV commode with a bombé front, inlaid with rosewood (sides) and violet wood (front) within rosewood frames. The geometric marquetry in precious woods features contrasting stringing and framing.

It opens with three drawers in the front, adorned with finely chased gilt bronze mounts (corner mounts, handles, feet). The marble top dates from the 18th century.
The Portoro marble has a black background and very pronounced white veins, often wavy or in a sheet pattern. It comes from the La Spezia region (Liguria). This marble was very popular during the reign of Louis XV for its elegant contrast and rarity, which immediately enhances the furniture it adorns.
The commode is in perfect condition.
Restored in our workshop – French polished.
