A fine secretary desk in satinwood veneer and gilt bronze.
It features a blue Turquin marble top with cavetto moldings and an openwork gallery.
The front opens with a drawer, a drop-front, and two projecting doors.
The drop-front reveals two drawers and a niche, with laurel wreath-shaped pull rings.
The leather-covered writing surface is decorated with gilt decoration: foliate motifs and scrolls.
The front and rear uprights are rounded.
It boasts rich gilt bronze ornamentation: framing moldings, flowers, floral cartouches, and a keyhole escutcheon with a radiant female mask.
The desk has tapered feet with sabots and is constructed of oak and mahogany.
    Stamped by Jean-Henri Jansen (1854-1929).
    Circa 1880.
