Mahogany secretary desk, Louis XVI style, Napoleon III period - second half of the 19th century

This superb Louis XVI secretary desk in solid mahogany and mahogany veneer captivates with its balanced proportions and the nobility of its materials. It is crowned with a gray marble top with subtle brown undertones, delicately framed by a brass molding in a corbel shape, which elegantly accentuates the piece's silhouette.
The front, punctuated by fine brass inlays, highlights the warm depth of the mahogany. The secretary opens with a top drawer, a drop-front, and three drawers in the lower section, offering clear and functional organization. The drop-front reveals a meticulously organized interior with three drawers fitted with lens-shaped knobs and a central niche, ideal for storing correspondence and writing accessories. It is lined with new black leather, adorned with a gilt vignette and a central arabesque motif, adding a further touch of elegance to the workspace.

The five locks and their original keys, all in perfect working order, attest to the integrity and quality of this piece. The fluted brass uprights, the brass moldings encircling the entire piece, and the toupie feet ending in a brass collar and sabot, precisely recall the codes of the Louis XVI style and give this secretary a noble and timeless appearance.
