This piece of inlaid cherrywood furniture is most probably of provincial origin. The marquetry decorations on the upper shelf, depicting a pen and inkwell, suggest that it was intended for a writer (e).
It includes two secret drawers and its original locks, made by an ironmonger at the time, are still functional.
The marquetry is made from exotic woods typical of the 18th century: tulipwood, amaranth, boxwood and rosewood.
Fully restored, this piece of furniture is today in perfect condition.
