Beautiful Arts&Crafts bookcase, probably of Austrian origin. The Arts&Crafts movement focused on simple, functional objects. Furniture is soberly arranged, generally in solid wood. Wood grain, joinery and metalwork are the only ornamentation on furniture, which is preferably made of oak. This bookcase is a fine example of this 1930s style. Note the small glazed and beveled tiles, and the two niches on each upper side of the cabinet. The oak is magnificent for its patina and warmth. Very good condition and perfectly functional.
