Exquisite Danish teak and teak veneer bookcase dating from the 1950s/60s. Designed by Danish designer Børge Møgensen and distributed by Soblor Møbler.
Børge Møgensen was a Danish designer born in 1914 in Aalborg, Denmark. He studied furniture design in Copenhagen.
In the 1940s, he became head of design at the Danish Consumer Cooperative Society (FDB). In the 1950s, he opened his own design studio and subsequently became one of the designers who popularized the concept of modern Danish design.
His work is clean and extremely functional. He strives to create practical and affordable designs in his preferred material: wood.
His clients include Fredericia Stolefabrik, Fritz Hansen, Søborg Møbelfabrik, and many others.
In 1950, he won the Eckersberg Medal, the Copenhagen Carpentry Guild's annual prize in 1953, and the C.F. Hansen Medal in 1972.
He died in 1972 in Denmark.
