- This bookcase is distinguished by its shape, its large dimensions (215 x 210 x 60 cm) and its rich carved decoration, characteristic of the 18th century and the Louis XV style.
Flat at the back, this bookcase features a curved front, a curve that sets the tone for the rocaille forms of the carved decoration. In fact, the decoration features numerous ornaments borrowed from the ornamental vocabulary of the rocaille style, with sculptures of scrolls, foliage and shells. These are used as pendants (at the base of the rounded forms of the lower section), follow the curved lines of the jambs, or are combined with cabochons and a putto face.
