Regency style flat desk in black lacquered wood, opening with three belt drawers.
The tray decorated with old, red leather gilded with small iron is in good state of conservation, it is set with a large ingot mold ending in the corners with gilded bronze spandrels, hollowly marked "St Germain".
It opens with a recessed central drawer flanked by two drawers highlighted with mustache bronzes, the drawers are provided with large falling gilded bronze hands.
The feet are decorated with a faun head detail.
The simulated rear side is composed of a decoration similar to the front side.
The very beautifully crafted bronzes bear the JHD mark on the reverse.
It bears the stamp of the Hopilliart house on rue des Saint Pères, in Paris.
The Maison Hopilliart, founded in 1781, continued its activity in the 19th century, at the beginning of the 20th century in 1900 it became the Maison Hopilliart et Leroy, and in 1931 became the Maison Hopilliart et Leroux, this allows us to date our period office Napoleon III, around 1880.
