This Art Deco bookcase in elm burl veneer, made around 1940, displays a balanced silhouette where the warmth of the precious wood interacts with a sober, geometric design. The elm burl, with its deep curves and intense reflections, envelops the front with an organic movement that contrasts with the rigor of the lines, creating a subtle interplay between nature and structure. The alternation of open niches and a closed compartment creates a visual rhythm typical of late Art Deco, where functionality is adorned with understated elegance. The tubular metal handle extends this modernist aesthetic, adding a touch of cool verticality that emphasizes the door and accentuates the purity of the design. Inside, the two shelves echo the same warm hue, offering a refined continuity even in the hidden sections. The whole rests on a slightly recessed, concave base that lightens the piece and gives it a stable yet airy presence. This side table naturally finds its place in a contemporary or vintage interior, where it becomes a centerpiece capable of adding character and a touch of timeless sophistication.
