Beautiful dressing table in natural wood opening on the top by a central leaf in Walnut veneer decorated with marquetry motifs inlaid with lemon tree, thuja burl, amaranth and stained wood. A pillar of fire surrounded by wings, scythes and axes are depicted. The circumference of this panel is composed of a net of amaranth and a net of boxwood. It is decorated at the corners with squares made up of triangles of amaranth and boxwood and surrounded by a frieze of blond cherry. On each side two leaves of identical design reveal additional compartments. The main flap is held by two sliding compasses and fitted with a mirror bearing the traces of time. It is closed with an original lock in working order with its key.
This atypical piece of furniture opens on the front with five drawers and a "writing" tablet. This zipper with its brass button is composed of a miter cut walnut frame and wine red leather decorated with a gilded Greek vignette. Below, a drawer made of burl walnut in the center, surrounded by fillets of boxwood and amaranth, has a frieze in blond cherry around its edge. This geometric decoration is found on each drawer of the front. Each equipped with an original working lock with its key, oak sides and a fir background.
The sides of this dressing table have the same marquetry pattern as the rest of the furniture.
The whole rests on four sheath legs with fixed grooves bringing finesse and refinement to this unique furniture.
An inscription and a signature on one of the drawers indicate a restoration carried out in 1849.
With its elegant lines, this bicentennial dressing table will seduce you with its multiple functions and its large symbolic marquetry.
