Beautiful center table in whitewashed oak, topped with a glass top painted with the "fixed-under-glass" technique: the top is surrounded by a painted plant frieze and enriched with gold leaf

The wing-shaped legs end with bronze pieces, both at the top and the sabots; the spacer is decorated with 2 stars at the junction of the curves

Good general condition: 2 chips on the glass top, some scratches from use, small old restorations, 1 bronze element is missing from one foot and some losses to the wood

This table is attributed to Léon and Maurice Jallot, father and son cabinetmakers
Léon (1874-1967), the father, opened his own workshop at the age of 16 and began to sculpt wood and make his own furniture thanks to his innate sense of aesthetics and refinement. In 1900, he participated in the Universal Exhibition for the Art Nouveau store in Paris, of which he had been the director since 1899.
Jallot then participated in the creation of some of the most sought-after works of the Art Nouveau movement, those designed by the famous trio of the firm: Georges de Feure, Eduoard Colonna and Eugène Gaillard.
In 1901, he became one of the founding members of the first Salon of the Society of Decorative Artists.
In 1903, he created his own workshop: he designed and manufactured furniture but also accessories for decoration (fabrics, screens, etc.). His taste led him to move towards productions using noble materials, with lighter lines than those of Art Nouveau, which sought luxury and refinement.

From 1921, his son Maurice (1900-1971) joined him in the family business: trained at the Ecolle Boulle, he would work and present creations jointly created with his father, but also alone.
A versatile and imaginative creator, Maurice would follow the guiding principle of the Jallot house: noble materials, quality and refinement of the execution of the furniture

Maurice and Leon Jallot furnished many apartments, stores and guests, ministries, embassies and even the Elysée

Léon succeeded his father at the head of the company, which he would manage until the 1950s
