Beautiful Athenian side table, carved and gilded with gold leaf. Tripod-shaped, it is richly decorated in the Louis XVI style: a belt adorned with rows of eggs and acanthus leaves, the three ram-headed legs adorned with rows of piastres and flower drops, and finished with ram's hooves. An antique vase rests on the crossbar. Our Athenian side table is covered with luxurious marble, the color of Aleppo breccia. A fine Louis XVI-style creation from the 1880s, at a time when ornamentalists, tired of the excesses of mid-19th-century pastiche, sought to return to a pure 18th-century style, with the refinement of 19th-century finishes.

Beautiful and highly decorative object. A rare piece, with multiple uses: to display a lamp, a bust, or an art object. Ideal for complementing an 18th-century or Napoleon III decor with one of those details that create an authentic decoration.

Very good condition, gold leaf gilding cleaned and restored by our gilder. Previous restoration, two ram's horns remade.
