Elegant piece of furniture of the Napoleon III period, with the magnificent "Boulle" marquetry, named after Charles-André BOULLE, master cabinetmaker of King Louis XIV, who made famous this technique using the inlay of chiseled brass on a tortoise shell background. This process of ornamentation is found in various places, notably in the upper part, on the front and on the uprights, always on a black background of blackened wood, thus offering a beautiful contrast. The chiseled brass inlays, of Greek inspiration, are in the form of intertwined volutes, flowers, foliage and baskets.
This property opens with a door pulling to the right, composed in the corners of four concave elements: these are separated by ornaments in chased bronze. One of them is an entrance with a key for the opening. The original lock and key are in working order.
The oval-shaped pattern in the central part, slightly curved, has an important bronze molding, with a flower decoration accompanied by a bead. The interior in mahogany is structured with two shelves of the same species, adjustable on rack.
In addition, this quality furniture at the height of support is enriched with bronze falls, notably carved in the form of Egyptian women in the upper part of the uprights, or in floral motifs for the other fittings.
Godroned rods of the same alloy, forming cords, underline the projecting base and the upper part delimiting the entablature of the furniture.
This piece is topped with an original veined white Carrara marble in perfect condition, which brings an additional shine to the whole.
Sumptuous, this bicentennial piece of furniture will delight the lovers of exceptional furniture.
