Four doors furniture from the Louis XV period, originating from Ile et Vilaine, composed mainly of Blond Cherry but also of Chestnut.
It is topped by a Cornice Crossbow in double arch, recalling the shape of a heart. It overhangs a large crosspiece carved with an important scroll.
By definition, this piece of furniture is composed of two bodies, each offering two doors. The upper doors are carved in brace at the top - thus perfectly following the line of the Cornice - and all are composed of panels with Chevron motifs. The panels are made of solid birch - as evidenced by the interior of the doors - and not the more common veneer. These recessed panels are highlighted by wavy moldings and each of these shutters has a long, finely chiseled brass keyhole.
The interiors are respectively lined with two and then one shelf of 51 cm deep on fixed cleats.
The two elements of this piece of furniture are delimited by a row of three drawers with scalloped fronts. The central one, narrower, locks, while the other two have square drop handles.
The lower crosspiece of this Quatre Volets is generously scalloped and also features a carved floral decoration.
The ensemble rests on two Hinds legs in the front, straight in the back.
The back of the furniture is made of Chestnut, a wood that also partly composes the sides.
Note that the locks, keys, plugs and other brass fittings are original.
We will appreciate the pretty Honey color of this Four Doors furniture which offers a consequent volume of storage. The rigor of its main structure is softened by the curved lines of its cornice and its doors, and its many aesthetic assets will finish convincing the next buyer of this Bicentennial furniture.
