Ile-de-France cabinet in walnut, stamped I.Martiny (unknown stamp in the 18th century cabinetmakers' and joiners' directory). Origin: Morbihan manor house, listed as a historic monument. Front with two arched molded doors. Sides with molded transoms and recessed panels. Curved, molded cornice in the shape of a "chapeau de gendarme". Interior with four shelves and oak closet (later). Stamped twice on the top and bottom crosspieces. Wrought-iron ornamentation, including period espagnolette, lock and key. Assembled with a "tire-fond" (a system allowing easy dismantling, used at the time for transport in narrow access areas, known as a "versaillaise" cabinet). Beautiful early 18th-century work.
