Spectacular triple-glazed circular vase with a flat, shouldered body and a navette neck. Rare and magnificent deep-reserve acid-etched decoration of purple trees in the foreground, a panoramic view of Rio Bay enlivened by birds in shades of purple, on an opaque orange-white background. Superb luminous rendering! Exotic decorations are very rare in the production of Gallé cameo vases; views of Rio are limited to half a dozen different designs for an estimated production of 200 vases.
Period 1918-1931
