* René Jules Lalique (1860-1945)
was a French master glassmaker and jeweler, founder of the Maison Lalique. He became famous for his astonishing creations of jewelry, then perfume bottles, vases, candlesticks, clocks and, at the end of his life, car cabochons. The company he founded is still in operation, and still creates many of the quality pieces for which it is renowned worldwide. The Lalique name has remained associated with creativity and quality, as he always knew how to design sumptuous yet discreet objects.
