Dominique Cauvé was born on December 22, 1956 in Lesseux, in the Vosges department. He completed his secondary education and musical training at the Troyes and Reims conservatories and at the UER de Lettres-Section musicologie in Reims. For five
years, he worked as an auxiliary teacher in the Education Nationale. He was then employed by the Association des Compagnons du Devoir et du Tour de France, the association behind the Maison de l'Outil et de la Pensée Ouvrière, a museum featuring a unique display of antique tools. He was in charge of classifying the books in the library, which focuses on manual trades, as well as carrying out bookbinding and gilding operations on leather. In the autumn of 1995, this experience of manual trades gave him the irrepressible urge to express himself through drawing. Dominique Cauvé loves all kinds of expression in the visual arts, with a predilection for outsider artists whose work he delights in surfing the web and skimming all kinds of documents. He uses a variety of techniques: Indian ink, colored pencils, ballpoint pens, felt-tip pens, acrylics, collage and digital techniques. This creator currently lives in Troyes, and many collectors in France and abroad are in possession of his works.
