This large miniature ( 14 x 11 cm ) is a reproduction of the painting by Pierre Gobert ( 1662-1744 ).
It represents Mademoiselle Adélaïde de Savoie ( mother of Louis XV ).
She is in hunting clothes in front of the Grand Canal of Fontainebleau.
There are several reproductions of this painting in the French museums ( Senlis, Versailles,... )
The original painting represents a young lady of 13-15 years old.
The various reproductions are not totally identical.
It is also the case of this miniature, indeed the face is that of a young woman.
This work is particularly beautiful by its colors, its subject ; it was probably done late (1750-1780).
The miniature later had an exceptional small frame, XIXth time, entirely decorated with hard stones.
A Louis XVI lampas decorate the back of the frame.
State :
very good condition.
The ivory "elephantidae" of the miniature dates from before June 1, 1947, so it does not require Cites.
