    Biography:
    Ludovic ALLEAUME 1859 / 1941
Ludovic Alleaume, born March 24, 1859 in Angers and died January 14, 1941 in Paris, was a French painter, engraver, and illustrator.
He was the son of Auguste Symphorien Alleaume (1821-1895) and Rose Hodée (1827-1909). His father is the author of the book "Patents for Invention," which covers watchmaking, published in 1873.
A student at the Regional School of Fine Arts in Angers under the painter Eugène Brunclair, he became an apprentice to decorative painters in Angers. He then joined the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he was admitted to the studios of Ernest Hébert and Luc-Olivier Merson. Ludovic Alleaume was primarily a portrait painter. In 1883, he made his debut at the Salon des Artistes Français.
He was the brother of Auguste Alleaume, a stained-glass specialist. A multidisciplinary artist, he participated in his studio in Laval from 1893 to 1937, also working with his other brother, Paul (1856-1940), a cutter-assembler. He also created wall decorations with Ladislas Dymkovski, a relative of his family. He would later create the designs commissioned by his brother for certain stained-glass windows, and thus worked with Lecomte and Colin in Rennes, Jacques-Philippe Imberton, Henri Carot, Louis-Charles-Marie Champigneulle (1853-1905) in Paris, François Comère in Brussels, Haudecœur in Lille, as well as with Pierre-Jules Boulanger (1833-1911), a master glassmaker in Rouen. Having received several awards for his painting, he was awarded the Legion of Honor in 1927. He collaborated as an illustrator for La revue de Bretagne, La revue de l'Anjou, and Le Monde illustré. He divided his time between his studio on Boulevard Saint-Germain in Paris and his brother's studio. Ludovic Alleaume died on January 14, 1941, in Paris. Knight of the Legion of Honor (1927)
