I offer for sale this lovely little old engraving from the Louis XVI period in good general condition. It represents a group of 4 small putti playing on a beach between the water's edge and rocks topped with an ancient ruin in the style of the painter Hubert Robert, famous for his neoclassical compositions. The engraving is signed lower left by the engraver Desue in 1773.

Beautiful composition from the beginning of the reign of King Louis XVI characteristic of the neoclassical movement that spread across Europe and France at the end of the 18th century following the discovery of the ancient cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum in the Kingdom of Naples!
