Framed engraving depicting Napoleon on the Vendôme Column. On both sides, the lyrics of two songs to his glory. First half of the 19th century.
The bronze statue executed by Seurre was inaugurated in 1833. Commissioned by Louis-Philippe, anxious to rehabilitate the Emperor to spare the Bonapartists. It replaced that of Chaudet deposited at the fall of the Empire. The cult of Napoleon rages on, maintained by the distribution of engravings, songs, statuettes.
