    "Venus, in love with the young Adonis whom she intended for brilliant favors, had taken from Diane this child whom she was raising among her nymphs. One day when this goddess returned from the hunt she saw Venus at the corner of a wood & asks her  this child, Venus not wanting to give it back to her, imagines making her grow wings, to giving him the likeness of Love in everything, and presenting her the two children together, she tells her to choose: Diana, frightened in the fear of taking Love, left her little Adonis. "
