Hervé Masson,
born in Rose-Hill on January 17, 1919 and died in Paris on May 13, 1990, was a Mauritian painter, poet and journalist, Freemason and Martinist.
He was the brother of writer Loys Masson.
He was a major painter, chosen in his day as a worthy successor to Bonnard. But Hervé Masson was much more than that. An independence activist, journalist, essayist and co-founder of the MMM, he left his mark on the island with a visceral commitment to what was not yet known as "Mauricianism"...
