Two twin bouquets in their blue vases, like two echoes of the same flowery breath, offered to the light of suspended time.
Here is a pair of pastels of rare charm, signed Henri Buron, a Rouen painter who distinguished himself in the Parisian salons of the 20th century. These works evoke a suspended, almost silent moment, when the blue of the vase and flowers converse with that of the sky.
Each composition presents a vibrant bouquet of fresh, delicate tones, subtly nuanced and captured in a refined chiaroscuro. One senses the mastery of an award-winning decorative artist - gold medal at the Salon des Artistes Français, laureate of the Institut, medal at the 1937 International Exhibition.
The two pastels are presented in their original sculpted and patinated frames, with time-worn floral reliefs that add a patinated nobility entirely in keeping with the spirit of Le Clos Palmyre.
It's rare to find a truly homogeneous pair, so well preserved and so decorative, where the works respond to each other in a symphony of blue and tenderness.
