Pair of portraits of an elegant noble couple dated 1762 in Paris or Versailles. Signed Jacques Delorge, known as the "chevalier de Lorge", born in 1733 in Aix-en-Provence, died after 1786. He became "painter to the dauphin and dauphine" and remained in the service of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette after their accession to the throne, exhibiting the first portrait of the new queen at the Tuileries (La reine en Diane donnant des ordres à un retour de chasse). Pastel on wove paper mounted on canvas. Fine original gilded wood frames. Good condition, small trace of humidity on the female portrait.
