These albums contain 2 x 50 silver photos (13 cm x 18 cm).
The photos come from the "Rol" studio and the "Paris Photo" studio (Bordelais). The photos from the Bordeaux studio are marked with a blind stamp and those from the Rol studio with a blue inked stamp
. The theme of an album is mainly the famous aviator Maryse Bastié (1898,1952). We see her among many others with her instructor Guy Bart, the New Zealand aviator Jean Batton, De Kérillis; René Labouret as well as in a demonstration where she participated in the emancipation of women for the right to vote.
You can also see the famous view where it passes under the cables of the Bordeaux suspension bridge. Maryse Bastié being from Bordeaux, it is therefore logical that a photographer from this city worked before her fame.
On the two albums, there are therefore many pictures representing planes, airships, hot air balloons, as well as many people, pilots, mechanics, notables...(Specialists will recognize them!) There is a moving shot of Blériot in his very recognizable monoplane flown over by a Nieuport.
There is also an accident scene. Scenes are in Mérignac still in grassy fields, in Villacoublay, Orly... Above all, this set traces a chronology of the history of women's aviation among others, when we usually see a single photo and not this set rich in teaching.
State.
The albums are degraded but the photos, are in excellent condition, protected by "the Marie Louise" cardboard albums.
