    "Fishing Boats at Civitavecchia"

    The watercolor is not faded, contrary to what the photographs might suggest.

    A beautiful, finely executed watercolor depicting fishermen in their boat in the port of Civitavecchia.

    Born in Vannes, and unrelated to the Roux family of Marseille, he had a distinguished career in the navy, retiring with the rank of admiral. He exhibited at the Salon from 1869 to 1870 with watercolors painted during his travels.

    Dimensions: 32.2 x 38.3 cm unframed and 41 x 51 cm with its modern gold frame.
