Gien Faience Vase with Renaissance Decoration – Hand-Painted Decoration

Important polychrome faience vase from the Gien factory, hand-decorated. The piece features a sumptuous Renaissance-inspired decoration on a deep blue background, richly adorned with scrolls, putti, and finely executed plant motifs in shades of yellow, green, and white. The perfectly balanced composition is organized around mythological figures in an Italianate style characteristic of Gien's major productions. The handles, sculpted in the form of fantastical creatures, enhance the spectacular and decorative character of the piece.

Mark on the reverse: Gien – France – hand-decorated. 20th-century work, in the grand tradition of Renaissance decoration from the factory.
