A finely potted, beautifully decorated small Satsuma jug or vase from the Meiji period. It is unsigned but in the distinctive floral style of the Kinkozan studio. Whether this was intended to be a serving jug or a vase is unclear, but the interior shows it has been used to display flowers.
The condition is good. There are two chips, but not noticeable. One is on the foot rim and the other at the base of the handle. These can be see in the photographs but the pictures also show how inconspicuous they are. There is also a little staining to the crackle at the mouth. Aside from this, the enamels and gold are bright and fresh, there are a couple of kiln faults (note the two pinholes in the glaze) but generally speaking the vase looks very good for its age.
It is just over 15 cms high, about 10 cms across at the widest point and weighs approximately 194 g.
