* Théodore Deck (1823-1891)
At the age of 18, he was apprenticed to Maitre Hügelin, where he learned colored paste inlay techniques and spent his spare time creating new clay models. In 1840, on the death of his father, he and his brother took over the family silk-dyeing business, which failed. In 1958, the Deck brothers opened their ceramics workshop. In 1861, Théodore Deck exhibited his work for the first time, in the form of inlaid or enamel-covered pieces and pieces in the style of Iznick ceramics. Deck's reputation was launched. In 1864, he succeeded in presenting pieces covered with transparent, uncrackled enamels, a technique that enabled him to create figures, birds and flowers under a turquoise, green, yellow or manganese glaze. Throughout his career, he trained many renowned ceramists, including Edmond Lachena and Félix Bracquemond. He also worked with painters such as Eugène Glück and Émile-Auguste Reiber.
Artist highly rated on ArtPrice.
** Charles Greber (1853 - 1935)
Famous Beauvais ceramist, brother of Henri Gréber. In 53 years of activity, Charles Greber left his mark on the Beauvais ceramics scene. He managed to reconcile the production of utilitarian pieces with that of the most prestigious artistic pieces.
Son of Peter Greber, from whom he took over the Céramique de Beauvais factory, founded in 1866. Creates Greber frères in partnership with his brother Paul. Between 1900 and 1905, he joined forces with Tabary and Commien (Cf Musée d'Orsay).
