Faïencerie de Sarreguemines, a decoration rarely found called "Orchids".
It dates from the late 19th century, around 1900.
PERFECT CONDITION,
TEA or CHOCOLATE CUP (Height 7 cm, diameter of bowl 9.8 cm) and SUB-CUP (diameter 17.3 cm)
No cracks, splinters or chips, perfect condition, even the gilding is fine (see photos included in description).
A refined service from the Faïencerie, with one of the most accomplished and successful decorations ever produced:
we're right in the middle of Art Nouveau.
Orchid flowers are depicted with great delicacy and preciousness, in soft, matte tones,
finely drawn, the decoration plays on the elongation of the stems and their sinuosity;
depicted with incredibly beautiful interlacing colors and gilded edges!
Even the finely scalloped pieces, all in relief, evoke the unbridled imagination of this period, with its inspiration from nature.
The theme of orchids was also in the spotlight at the time: people were crazy about these flowers, and plants were snapped up at a premium!
It was therefore logical that Sarreguemines should seize on this theme to produce this refined service for the bourgeoisie.
Its richness, but also its fragile finesse, explains the rarity of this decoration, which is highly prized by connoisseurs and collectors.
