A rare dish made by the Henriot pottery factory in Quimper during the German occupation. It is dated Kriegsweihnachten 1943 (Wartime Christmas 1943). The Château de Penhoët, located on Belle-Île-en-Mer and once owned by Sarah Bernhardt, is depicted on it.

This dish was probably made for the Kriegsmarine, the German navy.

"During the Occupation, the requisitioned Henriot pottery factory in Quimper produced items for the Luftwaffe (Air Force) and the Kriegsmarine (Navy), which were sold in soldiers' homes (Soldatenheim), particularly for the Christmas holidays," explains Eric Pasturel, manager of the museum in Dinan.

"Dating from 1941 to 1943, these plates, dishes, and beer mugs are rare pieces and were once in the hands of airmen, sailors, and submariners."
