    Large covered pot in polychrome earthenware, Asian work, late 19th century

    Large tripod covered pot in richly decorated earthenware, with polychrome relief decoration of Chinese and Japanese scenes.

    The body features large figurative scenes with figures in traditional costume, landscapes and architecture, in a style similar to famille verte / famille rose decorations.

    The decoration is particularly elaborate, with raised highlights (barbotine) and vivid polychromy (blue, green, ochre, manganese).
    The reverse features a stylized floral design.

    The lid is topped with a stylized chimera / chien de Fô, while the side handles and feet feature fantastic zoomorphic shapes, giving the whole a highly decorative appearance.

    Typical of late 19th century Asian production.
