Large cup with umbilicus, it rests on a small heel and presents a rich decoration of Chinese style. In England, around 1650, the decoration of the earthenware called "Chinese style of transition" made its appearance, it consisted of characters squatting in a floating world of islands, rocks and trees; from 1670, this type of decoration is perfectly mastered, the most beautiful are certainly produced by Dutch artists arrived in England following the potter Jan Ariens van Hamme who obtained in 1676 a privilege to manufacture tiles for wall coverings in London. Rare and of high quality, our dish is to be compared to the cup with blue cameo decoration in Chinese style kept in the Musée National de la Céramique in Sèvres (inventory number MNC 28 084, diameter 26.5) and which is represented in the exhibition catalog "European earthenware of the 17th century, the triumph of Delft" page 243.
This type of earthenware is called in England delftware and was produced between 1680 and 1700.
    End of the XVIIth century.
In good general condition, it presents some small jumps of enamel and a small restoration on the reverse of the wing almost invisible.
