Description

A beautiful, large promotional rum decanter made of glazed ceramic (slipware), depicting a standing Newfoundland dog. Dated to the 1950s–1960s. This model is known as a promotional bottle for the Canadian rum Newfoundland Screech; however, this particular piece no longer has its original label or medallion. The dog features a deeply glossy black coat rendered in relief, with large red and white eyes and a pink tongue—all hand-painted polychrome details. The neck is discreetly positioned at the top of the head. The original stopper is missing. Since the ceramic beneath the paws appears porous, using this piece as a container for liquids is not recommended.

Approximately 28 cm long, 24.5 cm high, and 10 cm deep. In very good overall condition, with minor paint retouching above the left eye and around the spout; no noticeable cracks or chips. Weighs approximately 1,200 kg.
