Pendant brooch adorned with a "Négresse" cameo on onyx, 18-carat solid gold setting set with small rubies around the edge, head dressed in a fishnet headdress and necklace set with small rose-cut diamonds, most certainly work of the 'Atelier de Petitot* for the Palais-Royal, from the Napoleon III 19th century period.
This brooch is in very good condition and is of exceptional quality. No hallmark but it has been tested in 18K gold.
A note: tiny scratches at the bottom of the cameo (see red arrows), tiny wear of time, see photos.

* Many jewelry boutiques were present at the Palais-Royal in Paris. The most important of these was that of Tixier-Deschamps. Its vogue was very great, especially between 1850 and 1868. There were neat and tasteful jewelry and stones of unusual quality. The cameos with the head of a negress, encrusted with small roses, executed by Petitot, were one of the successful specialties of the house.
