Two-part sleeper earrings in yellow gold 375/°° (9 KT, trefoil hallmark), with two removable pendants, in the adaptable format typical of Napoleon III period jewelry. Each part is set with an oval or pear-shaped citrine. At the time, these stones were not heated..... so their color is delicate in daylight, and particularly luminous in artificial light... These citrines are embellished with fine pearls, equally characteristic of the period. The principle of pendants makes these earrings highly mobile....in this context, it is likely that the gold content (9 KT) is a deliberate choice, giving them great resistance over time...
In keeping with the times, the sleeper systems are designed to be passed through the back of the ear, and are easy to handle because they are articulated. The suspension ring of the lower part is hidden under a thin bead of the sleeper that supports it, and therefore invisible to the wearer.
