This magnificent multi-strand necklace of untreated natural emeralds dates from the 1940s/50s and is of Italian origin. It comprises six strands of vibrant green, multifaceted emerald beads, ranging in size from approximately 4 mm to 10 mm for the largest bead. The total weight of the pearls is estimated at around 600 carats, making this an exceptional necklace. The necklace is adorned with a finely handcrafted 18-karat solid gold clasp, hallmarked with the Italian 18-karat hallmark. This clasp is richly set with diamonds (approximately 50 carats) arranged in a silver scroll, framing a central octagonal-cut emerald measuring 4 mm x 6 mm. The contrast with the gold is striking. The clasp measures 26 mm x 19 mm and is fitted with an additional 8 mm safety catch. The shortest strand is approximately 43 cm long and the longest approximately 55 cm. Total weight: 120 grams.
