    A pair of French Directoire period candlesticks in chiseled and gilt bronze, mounted as lamps

     

    A decorative pair of chiseled bronze candlesticks in their original gilding. The shafts are in the form of flared columns with cut sides, surmounted by Greek friezes, ending in claw feet and resting on circular bases decorated with water-leaf friezes.

     

    Elegant French Greek Directoire period work circa 1795-1799.

     

    Dimensions:

    Height of the candelabra: 7.7 inches.

    Base diameter: 3.9 inches.

    Height with shade: 15 inches.

    Shade diameter: 9.9 inches.

     

    In fine condition, these candlesticks exhibit a beautiful period gilding with some minor wear that adds to their authentic charm. They have been converted into lamps and are adorned with stunning new white silk shades with gold interiors.
