Marcel giraud, born in 1927 in vallauris, in the mauruches district, was attracted to the world of pottery from an early age.
At the age of 13, he left school to follow a rigorous four-year apprenticeship with potter blaise rubino.
To master the traditional wood-fired kiln technique, from 1944 to 1946 he worked for tiola, a company specializing in the construction of wood-fired kilns.
Between 1956 and 1960, marcel giraud perfected his turning skills by working with various ceramists.
In 1960, he opened his own workshop on rue françois donnet, where he mainly produced culinary ceramics.
In 1975, he returned to his birthplace and took up painting again, a long-standing passion, while learning stone and metal sculpture.
These new disciplines energized his creativity, and he turned to more sculptural ceramic production.
In 1990, although it was time to retire, Marcel Giraud did not cease his creative activity.
After a brief break, he resumed his artistic work with even greater zeal.
