Roger Capron (1922-2006)
Roger Capron was a renowned French ceramicist who worked for most of his life in Vallauris, a town famous for its pottery tradition. After studying and teaching applied arts in Paris, he settled in Vallauris in 1946, where he opened his own ceramics studio, known as "Atelier Callis". In 1952, Roger Capron bought an abandoned pottery factory in Vallauris and opened a small ceramics factory, producing small ceramic pieces and decorative panels and tiles. By the end of the 1950s, he had gained international recognition, and by the 1980s, his factory employed over 120 people and produced a wide range of pieces, such as vases, lamps, tables, tiles, panels, and other objects. During the 1990s, with the help of his wife Jacotte and Jean-Paul Bonnet, he began creating unique sculptures for galleries worldwide.
