Description

Pair of nine-light gilt bronze wall sconces in the Rococo style. These sconces feature a scrolled design, composed of curves and counter-curves, decorated with acanthus leaf motifs and volutes. Under Louis XV, bronze allowed for great creativity in Rococo ornamentation, which emphasized the movement of the compositions. These sconces reproduce the fine chasing of bronzes from the Louis XV period, in the style of Jacques Caffieri (1678-1755).

Louis XV style - Second half of the 19th century. H x W = 90 x 40 cm.

These sconces are in perfect condition; they have been cleaned, inspected, and rewired.

The highlights:
- its very impressive size (90 cm high),

- the 9 light branches, quite uncommon,
- the quality of the original gilding and the fine chasing,
- the perfect condition, particularly in terms of wiring.
