Description

This Antique Marble Mantel in Escalette marble is a late-19th-century Louis XVI fireplace surround from Paris (5th arrondissement), with a bowed front shelf and an original cast iron insert. The lintel features a carved cartouche, with crisp detailing and rosettes to the corner blocks. Its contrasting veining and balanced proportions suit both restoration work and high-end interior projects.

Original cast iron insert included; bowed front shelf; carved cartouche on the lintel; rosettes to the corner blocks.

This surround is carved in Escalette marble with clear, contrasting veining and finely executed Louis XVI detailing. The rosettes and the cartouche motif bring definition without overwhelming the overall geometry.

Louis XVI design language is typically read through symmetry and disciplined ornament, which makes pieces like this easy to integrate into both classical interiors and more contemporary schemes that need an architectural focal point.
