Pair of Huasos Spurs, called Espuelas

Silver-plated Steel
Length: 23 cm; Rowel Diameter: 12.5 cm
Pair of silver-plated steel spurs with wide, radiating rowels, composed of forty-eight teeth. The branches are adorned with a rich incised decoration of granules arranged in friezes.
Later handwritten inscription on the inside: "Para Nicola y Eranca con Carinoy a Mistad los de Ictus Septiembre de 1972"
These spurs refer to the attributes of Chilean horsemen, the huasos – the counterparts of the Argentine gaúchos. Important figures in Chilean folklore.
