Gilt bronze and ribbon
Created by Emperor Franz Joseph in 1890, reserved for officers, it rewards outstanding service in peacetime (red ribbon).
The medal bears the bust of the Emperor on one side and the inscription SIGNUM LAUDIS on the other, flanked by a laurel branch and an oak branch.
It is surmounted by a crown and a bail ring.
Original ribbon.
