Beautiful sword for a Major General under Louis Philippe (1830 - 1848).
The blade is marked at the ricasso on one side "Manufacture de Klingenthal" and on the other side "Coulaux ainé & comp". Gilt bronze mounting, folding secondary plate, main plate decorated and finely chased with a rooster surrounded by laurel leaves on a cluster of six flags, three silver stars on the outer lip of the plate attribute this sword to a major general. Truncated cone-shaped pommel with relief decoration of a cornucopia, the top of the pommel features relief decoration of a heliotrope flower surrounding the silk riveting. Black horn spindle, silver filigree, two ferrules with floral motifs terminating both ends of the spindle. Metal scabbard with oxidation (orange streaks).
In addition to its historical interest, this sword has the advantage of being in good overall condition, with traces of use. Gilding with minor alterations. I would like to point out the absence of the metal part inside the scabbard that lies behind the blade, visible in photo N° 12. Total length 103 cm, blade 84 cm.
