    Fuchi, Kashira and Kotsuka SET
    Japan, Edo period (1603-1868)
    Iron, gold, copper, brass, shakudo

Copper and iron Fuchi chased with three birds enhanced with gold.
Kashira in iron decorated with gilded foliage.
Kotsuka in copper covered with shakudo, engraved with Ashinaga-tenaga.

Ashinaga-tenaga are a pair of yōkai from Japanese folklore, made up of two complementary beings: Ashinaga-jin (足長人), endowed with disproportionately long legs, and Tenaga-jin (手長人), whose arms are exceptionally elongated. Their first mention appears in the Japanese encyclopedia Wakan Sansai Zue. When depicted together, they symbolize mutual aid and cooperation, each compensating for the other's limitations with their own abilities.
