Single-edged straight steel blade, shaped on the counter-edge, grooved, marked "A & J. SMITH ABERDEEN".
Silver ferrule, monogrammed "A&JS" and "ABD" in two respective cartouches.
Blackened wood spindle carved in a grid pattern.
Silver cap pommel chased with geometric motifs, rivet button.
Wooden scabbard sheathed in black leather.
Silver cap and bolt engraved with geometric motifs and a bird feeding three chicks.
In Scottish Gaelic, the term "sgian dubh" means "little knife". It is one of the attributes of the officers of the Gordon Highlanders.
